I crewed for Mark on a delivery from Hawaii to San Diego January 2018. Mark is an excellent skipper, easy to work for, confident and not afraid to make decisions. A winter crossing from Hawaii is challenging and Mark was always calm and prepared. He treated the boat as if it were his own and the owner’s interests were his priority. Mark is fun and easy to sail with. He listens to inputs but is always in command. I would gladly crew for Mark anytime.

Steve Weiland

We wanted to give a shout-out for Captain Mark Fife and his crew at Attitude Adjustment Sailing! My wife and I shoved off last summer for my dream sail from Anacortes, Washington to Oahu, Hawaii aboard our 49’ Hylas “Lady B”. However, after experiencing a number of days of gale force winds off the coast of California, my wife decided that Morrow Bay was a great spot to jump off and wish me luck with the rest of “my” dream trip. As miracles would have it, Mark was delivering a boat from San Francisco to San Diego and tied up on the dock behind us. I explained to him my dilemma and asked if there was any way his schedule could accommodate a rather sudden 15 day voyage to Hawaii? He took sympathy on me, made a few calls and said “I’ll be back in 3 days”. Long story short, we had a great trip, experienced most every kind of weather and arrived 15 days later to a very happy wife waiting on the beach! Mark was very knowledgeable, calm and he and his crewman were easy to be with. It’s not an understatement to say that without Mark’s help I wouldn’t have been able to realize my dream. If you’re considering a similar voyage, one on a smaller scale or a straight delivery, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Captain Mark and knowledgeable crew at Attitude Adjustment Sailing!

Chris & Barbara JensenHylas 49 “Lady B”

Even though we have been around boats our whole life, they have been ski boats, smaller sail boats and jet boats, this is our first ocean worthy boat. Being very aware of the potential disasters that can occur with inexperienced boaters who think they know everything, we just didn’t want to fall victim to an unforgiving ocean or another inexperienced boater, of which we had observed many times at the various marinas during our two year search for the perfect boat for us. After getting our boat home, we took the boat out on a small lake and knew we had bought a great boat and we decided we wanted to make sure we got the best instruction about our boat, our boat equipment, ocean boating and navigation and after talking with several possible “Captains”, Captain Mark Fife of Attitude Adjustment Sailing, LLC in San Diego, CA was our choice for sharing our first at sea adventure on our new 2002 Regal cabin cruiser. In the phone calls leading up to our big day, Captain Mark made us feel comfortable and confident in our decision to have him on board for our first ocean excursion. We couldn’t have asked for a better day to have Captain Mark aboard our Head Games II. The weather in San Diego started perfect, sunny and the ocean was calm when we headed out of the marina and to open waters. Upon our return it turned windy and cold in the afternoon, so we had lots of opportunity to learn different scenarios that may suddenly and unexpectedly arise. Captain Mark was professional, thorough and obviously very knowledgeable in all things boating. His attention to details was refreshing and his patience with questions was appreciated. He covered a variety of topics including acceptable boatingetiquette, safe operation and navigation through unknown hazards like crab traps, kelp beds, different colored buoys, proper radio communications, vessel going priority. and rapid change in weather conditions and ocean conditions, etc. Captain Mark is very safety conscious and prior to leaving the harbor he thoroughly inspected the entire boat, from bow to stern. He also imparted some of his navigational charting knowledge that was very informative and will be helpful in the unlikely but possible event of navigation equipment failure. Captain Mark even helped us with proper operation of the head, the anchor and other cabin equipment. He has been available by phone call or text with all of our questions after our private session. We could not have asked for a more comprehensive private instruction and we highly recommend Captain Mark for literally anything to do with boating. He was worth every dollar we paid and then some. We are looking forward to our next outing and session with Captain Mark Thank you Captain Mark!

Shadow and Diane

I had the pleasure of working with Capt. Fife for the relocation of my 43 foot catamaran from Florida to Hawaii.
The logistical challenges of the almost 7500 nm transport were expertly maneuvered by Capt. Fife using his diligence and extensive maritime knowledge. Thus, my M/Y arrived safe and in excellent condition.
Capt. Fife was thorough, professional and kept me abreast of all aspects along her journey via phone, text and email.
In sum, Capt. Fife has my highest recommendation and would utilize his services again without hesitation.

I wish to recommend Mark Fife due to my personal experience with him as a delivery captain during a trip from San Francisco to San Diego. We had normal and some rough weather around Point Conception. All problems were well handled andI felt quite comfortable during the delivery. He also advised me on some well thought out pre voyage planning . After we arrived in San Diego I did ask Mark for some additional close quarter instruction and docking procedures with my new boat .
As mentioned, all went well. I would recommend Mark as a Captain, for Deliveries and as an instructor .
